# How to view and back up my private key and seed phrase

FairyVault gives you full control over your wallet, including access to your private key and seed phrase. These credentials are critical for recovery, so it's important to manage them with care.

<figure><img src="/files/viIj6mjvp8lu95juTMmE" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

1. On the FairyVault home screen, tap your account name and click "Add & manage wallets"
2. Select the wallet address for which you want to view the private key or seed phrase.
3. On the address details page, tap "Show seed phrase" or "Show private key". Follow the on-screen prompts to reveal the credentials.
4. You may choose to **write down the seed phrase** on paper and store it in a safe place. Or you may **copy the private key** and save it in a secure, offline location.

{% hint style="success" %}
Your seed phrase and private key are the keys to your wallet. If lost, you may permanently lose access to your assets. Never share the seed phrase or private key with anyone.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://fairyvault.gitbook.io/fairyvault-docs/security/editor.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
